Orbiter is the latest innovative LED fixture from ARRI, featuring ultra-bright, tunable, and directional output. Orbiter is a lighting system – all component items are completely new and designed with versatility in mind.
Changeable optics are the core innovation in Orbiter. With a wide variety of optics to choose from, Orbiter transforms into the perfect light for your application without sacrificing beam, output, or color quality. The Quick Lighting Mount (QLM) in the Orbiter system allows for optics with vastly different properties to be connected to the fixture.
The open face optics produce a high-output, directional beam of light in several different beam angles including 15º, 30º, and 60º. Perfect for throwing light long distances or providing a broad swath of light.
The high-quality projection optics contain high-end lenses that provide even illumination and color across the entire beam field for superior results. The fixed beam angles available are 15º, 25º, 35º (wider angles may be added in the future). The zoom projection optics allow for flexibility in all kinds of applications.
The dome optics are fabric spheres available in three different diameters – small (approx. 0.25 m), medium (approx. 0.5 m) and large (approx. 0.9 m). The dome emits omnidirectional light, great for illuminating a large area with a beautiful, soft quality of light.
The light bank adapter creates a direct mounting point for Chimera and DoPchoice products. With easy attachment and no additional optical elements needed, the light bank adapter allows for a controlled soft light with amazing output.
Orbiter offers three operational modes to optimize the fixture’s performance for different applications. High color rendering mode provides the best color quality possible, high output mode generates the best brightness with slightly lower color rendition, while low noise mode creates a balance for quiet operation with decent output.
Full Suite of Sensors
A digital light of the future requires data. Orbiter is aware of the world around it with a variety of sensors that allow for advanced operations, smart automations, and a stream of metadata. All these sensors make for a better user experience and increased control over the fixture. Available data improve workflow also in post-production and service.
Orbiter is bursting with tech including:
Orbiter includes an integrated color sensor for measuring and matching the ambient light.
A 3-axis accelerometer allows for sensing the pan, tilt, and roll of the fixture. This data will provide future meta data for special effects work or optimizing fixture performance.
A magnetometer gives Orbiter’s heading based on the direction the fixture is pointing in the real world.
Ambient Light Sensor
An ambient light sensor located on the control panel will automatically dim the brightness of the control panel display based on surrounding light intensity.
Heat sensors located throughout the interior of the Orbiter will keep the LEDs and electronics at exactly the right temperature.
Ready for today, prepared for tomorrow
An SD Card slot enables future expansion of the software as well as a second way of updating the firmware.
A USB-C port is available for computer communication and servicing.
Two USB-A ports are used for LiOS updates via USB stick and connection of third-party peripherals such as Wi-Fi USB dongles and much more.
Two 5-Pin XLR DMX ports allow for conventional DMX & RDM communication in and through.
Ethernet daisy chaining is now possible with two EtherCON ports which support Art-Net 4, sACN, and TCP/IP.
A Camera Sync port provides the opportunity to sync Orbiter with a wide variety of motion picture cameras to have frame accurate flashing of the light output.
LumenRadio’s CRMX solution is included which allows for wireless DMX communication.
